When is the last time your machine was serviced? A little machine oil goes a long way to keeping your sewing machine on line and working correctly. You may be able to remove the bobbin case, and oil the moving parts inside.

If you aren't comfortable with this, take the machine in and ask them to do a tune up. The cost will outweigh the difference in the way your machine operates.

Are you leaving 3 or 4 inches of thread out of the bobbin case for the needle to grab?

Have you removed the bobbin from the bobbin case? You need to clean this area occassionally, most folks don't. I have dug straight pins, thread, etc out of them. If you did all of this the timing may be off a bit on the hook that loops the bobbin.
