I eat the occasional banana but do not like many fruits or vegetables. I do take my prenatal vitamin everyday. I eat lots of pasta, pizzas, etc. Is this bad for my baby?

Well i'm glad that I am not the only one out there... I dont really like many fruits besides watermelon...I eat pasta every single day but i have been trying new things and trust me...mushrooms, spinach and broccli arent as bad as you think! try making different meals and incorporate pasta with it.. I am also a veg so i eat chicken...try to make like bowtie maccaroni with some broccli and oil and garlic..yum! Try different vegs just incorporate it with your pasta. Good luck!

Your prenatals are meant to be a SUPPLEMENT to a healthy diet, not a safety net to take you off the hook for eating responsibly. You don't say how old you are, but you have to "grow up" and start thinking about your health for the sake of your baby. You have to make sure you are eating enough protein, fruits and vegetables and grains. Pizza and pasta in no way makes the cut. It doesn't mean you can't eat them, but they are at the bottom of the priority list. Your OB would be happy to give you some healthy food plan ideas and lists of healthy snacks, or refer you to a nutritionist who can help you. This isn't a "diet" it's the way everyone should eat if they want to live a long healthy life. You can get away with a lot of bad food habits when you're young, but when you hit 30 it starts to catch up with you. You are growing a baby, little bones and vital organs are developing. You have to nurture it. Otherwise you risk having an unhealthy baby with a low birth weight, and risks for infections, respiratory problems, cardiac problems... think about it. Healthy food isn't so bad!

It's not bad for your baby per-say...what will happen is that you will end up gaining ALOT of excess weight during your pregnancy making it that much more difficult for you to lose that post baby weight. During a normal pregnancy you are suppose to only gain about 35 pounds anything more than that and your asking for trouble. I am a horrible eater too and just recently have tried my hardest to eat healthy. For me though, it hasn't been that bad because my cravings are for healthy foods, which is so strange. Normally I would eat a bacon, egg & cheese on a plain bagle for breakfast, now I can't even look at that or I'll get sick...I have to have egg whites on whole wheat, which oddly enough taste SOOOO good to me and before I could not eat whole wheat bread, at all! Maybe it's psychological or maybe my baby is going to be a health freak, who knows, lol. I do get the occasional craving for a McDonalds breakfast sandwich, which is the only bacon, egg & cheese I can eat but I try not to go there too many days during the week...it doesnt help that there is a McD's across the street from my job, lol.

Good Luck on Congrats!

Bad yes, going to cause harm to the baby, maybe yes, maybe no, but why take that chance....just because you don't like fruits and vegetables doesn't mean you should not eat them...suck it up and improve your diet now for your baby, and for your body's future health too.

I had such bad morning sickness nothing ever stayed down the whole 9 months. My dr prescribed flintstones vitamins & she used to get mad at me for eating twinkies all the time but it was less painful throwing up twinkies then cereal or anything else. So I am sure you & your baby will be fine.
