It's a shame that your doctor is not totally encouraging. I would not use him again for any future pregnancies.
What kind of horror stories is he telling you? About delivery, or about trying to raise twins?
Hang in there. I know several people that have had twins. Delivery went fine. All babies are handfuls, and two even more so, but you will love them so much, it will all be worth it.
I'm saying a prayer for you, good luck!

Honestly, it is hard and really awesome at the same time. You'll muddle through it and just do what you've got to do. The sleep deprivation is the worst part. Try to have as much help as possible to keep the household running while you get the babies in sync and on a regular schedule. At this point, you have got to take it easy. You really want these girls to be born big and healthy so you don't have to leave either of them behind in the hospital. Eat eat eat and drink TONS of water and I mean TONS. It is hard but it is so so so rewarding too. You will get two sets of first smiles and two individual little sweethearts to cuddle. The good will offset the bad for sure :-)

Scaring stuff, I know. I have twin boys and my doc did the same thing. Looking back, I think he was trying to prepare me for the worst but hope for the best. Everything turned out ok and they are now 2 1/2 years old!! My twins were numbers 4 and 5 for me so I was experienced in the L&D part but not in the twin aspect. It isn't that much different than having one. I was afraid that I would be too tired to push the other one out but once it got going I was too into seeing them that I forgot about that. Just try to relax and know that your life is about to be blessed times two! Congrats!!

OK first of all relax. Your six weeks out, so even if you went into labor tonight, your babies would like as not be just fine. It is pretty normal to be 36weeks and in labor with twins, and often those babies go home with you. Take what he says with a grain of salt, and just keep moving on with the pregnancy. Good luck and congrats!!

Your Doctor telling you horror stories about birth sounds irresponsible. He should be giving you the facts and not trying to scare you.
As for after you deliver, I'd recommend you read the book 'The Happiest Baby on the Block' and also get the DVD with the same name. Can't recommend them highly enough!

I would be scared aswell having one newborn is hard enough but two!! I hope you have some live in help so you can get rest to take care of them. As far as your doctor goes why would he be telling you horror stories? If they bother you then ask him not to discuss any thing negative with you.

Honestly, I feel its better to be prepared then to go into something blindly. With my twins, I was fairly well prepared, but I still would have liked to know a little more. I appreciated it when another twin mommy's advice to me was "be prepared for the NICU." Even though we didn't need the NICU, it was nice for me to be mentally prepared. Its best to know all the risks associated with a multiple birth. Twins are tons of fun. I wouldn't trade it for anything. We actually secretly hoped this pregnancy would be multiple as well. Only one though, lol. Best of luck.

Sounds like your doctor has a vacaton planned for your original due date and wants to induce early labor. Don't sweat it - I'm sure you'll be fine.

Doctors can be very insensitive. Think positive thoughts, soon you will sail through delivery and have two beautiful baby girls! God Bless all of you.
