In the USA the percentage of kids vs elderly is changing. There will be a higher % of elderly and a smaller % of kids int he future. We already have a sufficient supply of pediatricians, but are short on geriatricians, so it is pretty likely that in the future there will be a reduced number of training spots for pediatrics. Still, if you are among the best graduates from your medical school, you should still be able to apply and be accepted at a pediatrics residency pver the next few years....

It's getting into med school that is going to be the problem.
