Big BIG question.you would have to learn all about the condition--and know what the future would hold. lt is one of a group of 9 types of MD,a genetic degenerate disease affecting voluntary muscle. Caused by an absence of Dystrophin,a protein that helps keep muscle cells intact. Onset--early childhood. Symptoms-- general weakness, muscle wasting affecting hips, pelvis, thighs and shoulders. Progression--eventually affecting all muscles-including the heart muscle. A very very serious disease. l am so sorry if you are a victim of this-l can only wish you all the very best-- and hope you do find someone special in your life. As long as the person knows all the facts first-- l don't see there would be a problem, but it would be a very special person, with a lot of love in their heart.

Yes, certainly, if I loved him. One of my dearest friends has DMD, and is happily married to a lovely woman, who loves him dearly. He is now 35 years old, and is almost constantly in a wheel chair. Although I know he does not lead a so called "normal" life, he is very happy, and so is his wife. The fact that he has DMD is no small thing, we all know how it affects him, and what the outcome will be, but it does not change the wonderful person he is, and did not stop his wife from falling in love with him. If you love someone, you can overcome any obstacle.

As long as you are marrying him for who he is and not for what you can benefit from. Having this type of disease can be stressful if you arent willing to have patience, support and willing to accept this man for eternity. He will depend on you for all of that if you are serious and have his best interests at heart. So find a support group and attend them. That way you can make up your mind if this is the type of relationship that you want to commit to. Best of luck.

If you can love someone no matter what they look like, then yes. My husband has that problem, he's not the cutest apple that fell from the tree, and he thinks that he has to with a gorgeous woman. People can't have their cake and eat it too. But he thinks differently.

The survival rate is rare for DMD people beyond the age of early 30s, so no I would not marry someone with that knowing full well I would be a widow shortly.

no. cause I wouldn't want him to marry me if it were the other way around. I would never ask you if I knew soon I was not going to be around. You would't be selfish if you said no. Life isn't a big fairy tale or a hallmark story. Thats just me i duno bout you
