I don't think American Idol will get old any time soon. Each season there's a whole other group of people to watch, so I don't see it's popularity lessening for a long time. I think alot of it has to do with the fact that we have some say in it by voting. That makes it fun. ....... I agree that Jordin Sparks will win tonight!

The truth of the matter is that Sanjaya was not a good singer in any aspects. Even his best performance, Besame Mucho, did not compare to some of the frontrunner's worst performances. I think the judges thoguht he did deserve to make the top 24, but that was because there were worse singers, plus he did ok during his auditions. But starting with his weird performance during the second week of the semifinals, the Sanjaya contreversy began. This was the same week that he stayed over AJ Tabaldo, who was one of the best males on the show. The same thing happened the next week with Sundance. In fact, he was the one on the hook with the person being voted off for the first 4 weeks of the live show. (With Rudy, with AJ, with Sundance, and with Brandon, all of them leaving with Sanjaya safe.) After he was in the bottom 2 the top 12 week, Vote For the Worst had huge success, and he was not in the bottom for many weeks, which is when he went home. The week he went home, I don't know how he did. It could have been that America got sick of him. VFTW could have been slacking. It's possible that he didn't get the lowest votes, but American Idol changed the results (although I doubt it.) I also heard that country fans do not like that song he sang. I don't know if Idol will regain its fans' trust. Maybe the people who didn't like Sanjaya will say that since he finally got sent home, they will trust Idol again. Or they could say that he was on for too long, and they will no longer trust the show. The people that did like Sanjaya may say that since he had such a long run they will trust Idol. Or they may say that since they could have ditched their rules to boot Sanjaya, they will not trust Idol. Overall, this is a great question, and the answer is it depends on the person.

I am hoping it will continue it's success but if next year is anything like this year it will get old. To be honest there wasn't anyone who really really was great this year, nothing like last year and I think that's the problem it is going to be hard to compete with last year I didn't want to miss a minute of it, but this year it wasn't that big of a deal and I am a die hard American Idol fan so lets hope it continues to have success...

I'm disappointed in the show. I'd like to see them move to a format where you vote off the worst not vote for the best - at least until the final night.
I don't expect my favorites to always win, but I'm shocked when really good singers get dumped week after week while pathetic ones get to stay on.
We'll see if they can pull it together for another season.

I think that the show will continue to be around for a few more seasons... but it has lost a lot of appeal this year.... with the "sanjaya effect".... however I think when the show is over there will be a similar one in it's place... it seems these talent competitions are really popular.

There are still 70 million people who vote for this every week! So I'd say it's going strong. I just think the reality tv thing is being run into the ground...
I agree with the person who said people should vote for who they think should leave! That would stop all those stupid Howard Stern morons!

I watched season 4 & 5 from beginning to end. This season I've caught some, but it just seems that this season was kind of blah.

It has already gotten old. This season produced the worst ever for talent, and the judge's comments are getting old.
They should be replaced with someone else.
