I'd recommend doing a soil pH test. Find out the pH of the soil. If the ground is too acidic, then you'll need to add something like lime to the soil to bring the pH back to the correct pH. Your best bet is working on getting the soil pH correct.

And if you water like crazy to help flush it away that might help, but it also may kill the surrounding plants. So if you have any prize flowers that haven't been affected you might want to move them first. Also, providing too much water could drown the plants, but it would help flush that chemical you used out of the soil.

Orthoboric acid is a white or colorless slightly acid solid that is soluble in water and ethanol; used in the manufacture of glass and paper and adhesives and in detergents and as a flux in welding, and also used as an antiseptic.
Orthoboric Acid Drax Ant Bait; Drax Ant Kill Gel; Drax Ant Bait Gel.
Any plant material this stuff comes into contact with, it will quickly kill, so your soil is contaminated.

I always advise people to seek out an alternative or a natural method before diving into harsh and dangerous chemicals.

Get rid of slugs and snails by spreading crushed eggshells where they are prone to travel. They won't travel over the rough surface and if they do, it's good-bye slug.

You can also get rid of snails and slugs with yucky, cheap beer. Just fill a jar lid with beer and place it where snails and slugs like to hang out. It's best to get it as flush with the ground as possible, so you may have to dig a little indention in the dirt.
