Well, it is always risky to give out your credit card number online or do online-shopping. If you must buy it online, l=play safe and go for amazon.com. But remember you have to pay the entire shipping cost. I suggest you pre-order from Oxford Book Store, or Starmarks, or Crosswords or even smaller bookshops without brandnames. You will get your book in time.

Every time I have pre-ordered something it didn't arrive on time. In fact, I had to wait three weeks for one item when I could have easily picked it up at the store. Another time it was over a week and a half after the release before I got the item.
This has happened with books, cds, and dvds. The only risk I know of is if you don't want the item immediately. If you want to wait to get it until after the release date, even weeks after the release date, then preorder online. Otherwise, get to the store when you can and buy it that way.

Amazon.com is probably the safest, assuring that you will receive your order on July 21st sometime before 3:00 pm, or they will refund the cost of the book. There is an excellent chance it will arrive on that day, but there is always a chance that it won't. If you're not too concerned about being among the very first to read it, then pre-ordering from Amazon.com is a good choice.

Actually, I've had great success with on-line purchases of Harry Potter at borders books and barnes and noble. My books have always been at least 30%-40% off for new releases, and as low as $4.00 plus shipping totaling $8-$10's, and they have been in great new condition. I collect books so I'm really picky of condition. And these sites are money back guaranteed. Hope this helps, good luck!

there is always a risk in buying things online. You just have to make sure that the site that you are going to buy to is a trusted site. Also, a lot of commerce site such as paypal offer a credit card number that you can used to purchase your book without the need of inputing your real credit card number.

Go for Amazon if you really want to order, my friend has pre ordered from one of those you have mentioned (I dunno which one) for just Rs.640, and the package includes a game CD worth Rs.500, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Rs.995) and a discount of 25% on every purchase he makes from that site in future. Now this seems too good to be true to me, I am buying the book from our city store on 21st July itself.
