Yes, you can use your self cleaning oven but just be aware that you will have lots of smoking if the parts are really greasy. I would brush them all down first with a good wire/grill brush before proceeding.

Ahh, what's the matter, too much work to scrub? (ha-ha)
Yeah, that should work - I don't see why not, though I haven't tried it myself. You'll still probably have to scrub with a wire brush afterwards to get all the remaining burnt ash off the pieces. Just don't expose the cast iron to big temp variations - e.g. - let them cool completely after the self-clean cycle before exposing to water. Cast iron is brittle and doesn't take big/fast temp swings very well.
If you really want to speed it up, use some wire wheels or wire cups chucked into your power drill - that should really clean 'em up after the self-clean cycle. (Don't use these on any enameled or coated parts.)

This is how I clean my cast iron pots and pans when they get too much junk on them. Put them in a plastic garbage bag. set a small container in the bag with a cup of ammonia. Tie the bag securely and let sit overnight. The gunk will be easily removed.

You know what..? That is a really good idea! I honestly think that will work really well and I'm stunned I never thought of doing that.
