How about we make it $5 dollars just for smug bastards like you? Hey you say it's not a big deal right? Did you think about those with large familes that need the space? How about those that need this type of vehicle for work? Guess those folks should just go suck an egg in your world huh?

If you're so willing to part with your money, just send it to me. It makes no difference what you drive, the higher fuel cost is not good for anyone.
Just because you are "holier" than someone else thinking that just because you don't have to, or choose to drive a larger vehicle still doesn't make you any better, or more efficient than anyone else.
I supposed that you think using your computer doesn't contribute to greenhouse gas emmisions. Maybe we should hope that your electric bill doubles inthe next week or so.
It doesn't matter what the price of gas goes up to, we will still buy it, and complain about it. I remember when gas cost about 60 Cents a Gallon, and we complained so shut up. If you don't it, like stop driving all together, that includes your smug as5 and other who think like you do. You may but less gas for your car, but you will be paying for it at the grocery store, the local restraunts, and at retail and service companies/store which have fuel costs (which means ALL of them). Loose the smug attitude and see the big picture.
You probably spend more on Starbucks in a month than you do on gas.

I find it ironic how everybody assumes that a SUV is the sinner when it comes to gas use.
A newer, well maintained SUV will actually let out less gases and use less gas than a shitty maintained old Ford Fiesta.
Old SUVs, yes, these tend to be gas guzzling exhaust making monsters, but new ones actually aren't as bad as people want to make them.
And most people who get SUV's don't get them cause "Oh, look at the nice huge car", but rather that they need the space. Work, hobbies, kids etc determines what kind of car one needs.

Ummmm...as a college student driving a 2000 Ford Escort ZX2, I can honestly say that ,ahem, I will not buy gas at those prices. I think it's a bogus jackass that says we will whine and buy it anyway. I'm poor...I work two jobs just to get through school, and for gas prices in Ks to jump seventy cents in the last two months because oil has gone up five dollars a barrel on the commodity market is very wrong.
And for those of you who want to see gas continue to climb, you're either stupid or rich, and I hope you do not get your wish. I'm not looking forward to a 40 minute walk followed by an 8hr shift at a restaurant followed by another 40 minute walk home around midnight or so.

All that's happening is the working class is having to pay out the nose just to be able to work/ the wealthy are reaping the benefits/ they don't care. Pretty soon a lot of people are going to fall thru the cracks due to the inability to get to/from work. There will be more anger issues coming about/ probably more violence also. Something needs to done/ what?/ it takes time-we don't have that kind of time..

In Canada the Govenment might be happy to see record gasoline prices because they get more taxes when the price goes up.

I think they should raise taxes on gas by at least another dollar per gallon and use those fund to research and support alternative fuels.
