According to NHL.com's tie-breaking procedures, they look at fewer # of games played, which is obviously 82 for both teams. Then games won, both teams have 48 wins. Head-to-head...they didn't play each other this year. And finally, goal differential. The Sens are at +66, Ducks + 50.

But....since the Ducks had more OT/SO losses, and therefore more points, is all this irrelevant?

they apply the tiebreaker only if the teams are tied in points. since they are not (ducks - 110, sens - 105), the person above me is correct, the ducks would have home ice advantage.

lets see how many people answer this question w/ the same answer, and how many won't read your explanation of the tiebreaker.

add - the people who talk about "seeding in the playoffs" are incorrect. the NHL doesn't seed the 16 teams that make the playoffs as #s 1-16. they seed each conference. therefore, when the Finals are actually decided, they use the same rules (involving points, and tiebreakers if needed), but they do not look at seeds.

technically, a #2 seed in the east could have less points than a #4 seed in the West. yet, the West would have home ice advantage ... BECAUSE IT'S BASED ON POINTS!!!

Anaheim might have home ice during the Stanley Cup final, but let's wait and see after the Detroit-Anaheim series is over and don't be so sure about Anaheim eliminating Detroit; this series ain't over just yet.

If Detroit comes back and wins the last two games of this series with Anaheim, it could be an Ottawa-Detroit final. Don't put all your eggs in one basket just yet.

The Sens won't get home ice against Anaheim or Detroit.

It would be the Ducks since they are a two seed in the playoffs and Ottawa is only a four.

The ducks would get it since they would be the higher seeded team in the finals. Each round of the playoffs are reseeded after each round.

You forgot points, the other criteria doesn't matter unless the two are tied in points.
