You fail to state where these updates are coming from. Every program you download that requires updates you must open help, or check the other tabs located at the top of the program and find the one that pertains to auto. updates. Remove the check mark and you will disable auto updates. Plus you will not have any notice when you turn off your computer.

If they are windows updates go to your control panel and open security panel. Turn off automatic updates.

Can tell you that this is not a very smart idea to turn off any of your automatic updates. Will leave you 100% responsible to remember to check on a daily basis for all of your updates pertaining to all programs that require updates. Your pc will be left not secure if you forget.

Microsoft Windows critical updates comes out every second Tuesday of each month. Unless Microsoft as a really serious flaw they will issue a patch prior to the second Tuesday of each month.

Think that you are just setting yourself up to have a pc that is not secure. Your choice to do as you wish.

Updates are important, well since you don't need them:

Click Start

Right click on My Computer

Click Properties

Click the tab Automatic Updates

then put the circle thing on the Turn Off Automatic Updates.

Let them finish the updates.

Then, the messages will stop until the next time you need them.
