The biggest problem I have with the amnesty bill is that it is the ONLY plan being put forth regarding illegal immigration.

I watched CSPAN yesterday, as Sen. Pete Dominici argued for passage of the bill. I heard exactly nothing of substance, mostly a bogus ad hominem reassurance that everything would be wonderful, and that his own mother was an illegal alien (and look at me now!).
What I have not heard yet is how this will be ENFORCED -- which should be the first item, and should have been in place years ago. If our laws were ENFORCED, we wouldn't be in this shape.

Hey...let's you and I go out and pick some onions today, dearie. Weather Channel predicts sunny and high of 80º. I'll pick you up.
Wear loose fitting clothing and bring your sun block.
I've got some great Los Lobos CDs to play on our way out to the farm.
Vamos, bebé.
FYI, Hispanic workers accounted for more than 1 million of the 2.5 million new jobs created by the U.S. economy in 2004. But Hispanics are the only major group of workers to have suffered a two-year decline in wages and they now earn 5 percent less than two years ago, according latest data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics and the Census Bureau.
Also, Hispanic families work 228 hours MORE PER YEAR than whites to even approach "middle class." You wanna talk about Lombardi and "hard work" now??

So, what if they do?? Are they not entitled to a living wage? Maybe amnesty will be a way of corralling the greed of American farmers and corporations who hire illegal immigrants. They haven't paid those workers a living wage in years. About time they did.

Actually if they are here legally then employers, except in agriculture, will be required to pay them a minimum wage. Kinda defeats the purpose from the perspective of business, doesn't it.

Most of the answerers missed your point. Big Business would get conned if they fought to get higher wages.
Citizenship to our country for sell if you benefit Big Business.

It's horrible that they think they are people too isn't it?
By the way, many of these responses just proves the (lack of) compassion that some Americans have for anyone "alien" to whatever it is they think they are that should elevate them above the rest of the human race.
(Are you starting to understand the relevance of Hitler references yet?)
