Yes I think we are and I think there are 3 reasons for this;
1) The breakdown of the family unit- leaving many children with absent fathers/mothers or in some cases both
2) The reliance in this country on alcohol as a way of relaxing. Too many adults live to get as drunk as possible at the weekend. This leads to an unhealthy, largely inactive lifestyle that excludes children. For most children between the ages of 13-17 there is very little for them to do, and when they look at adults they see their reliance on alcohol. We are one of the few countries in the world that regularly drink just to get drunk. What are our children supposed to think?
3) Children now have more rights than adults in too many situations. There was a time when if an adult told any child to do something, they did it. Now adults cannot say or do anything to a child without fear of prosecution. Adults live in fear of children and they know it. A pupil at school can hit a teacher and the teacher is powerless to act. Punishments for anti-social behaviour and crime have lessened so much that they are no longer seen as deterents. Prisons are too full (offenders know this), children can't be smacked/shouted at or threatened (and again they know this).
Which adults decided in their wisdom that children know better than adults and should therefore be empowered as a age group. On the other end of the social spectrum, too many parents are wrapping their children in cotton wool and refusing to expose them to even the smallest risk by keeping them indoors/not allowing them to play out or/refusing to smack their children and consequently not adequately disciplining their children.
Children are not inherently bad, but that is the perception they have today. They see what adults do and want to emulate that, they know what they can now get away with and abuse this as any child will.
It is not the youth that are to blame but our society in general.

I don't need the data!
From the banning of corporal punishment from schools, and by parents, enforced by the "do goodies", in power, (who do not have children, or have ever worked with the little darlings).
The children have been allowed to run riot, with no, or very little discipline, or repercussions for their actions.
So is this a present trend, no, the children of today are being raised by parents who have no discipline or moral values.

All caused by the liberal teachings in schools.
Too much information on sex, too many teachers telling the children that no one is allowed to punish them, not even their parents.
My children aged 5 to ten years are allowed to call their teachers by their first names, where is the discipline in that.
Too many people teaching the kids that it is better to have the latest sportscars than a bit of respect for your fellow humans.
Too many do gooders telling the courts that a mugger comes from a broken home and please be lenient.
Too many sexual deviants in position of power and education pushing through laws that tell 4 year olds in school that same sex parents is normal
No discipline, no punishment, no morals, no future

family values have gone to the bin. that is the root cause. Moms are to busy getting pissed and shagging randoms in toilet cubicles.
Kids need to come home to one of their parents (mom or dad). Kids need to be made to appreciate food!!! no snacking between meals and by the time mom serves dinner they'll worship her. love and proper food builds families, not slaps, holidays, remortgages and meals in tapa bars.
not 9k gold and credit cards and wkd blue!!
NOT CARS OR BOOB JOBS WHEN YOU'RE 16!!
i think promoting "working from home" for mums is a good start! Technology is here and it can be done

It is due to the collapse of family system, lack of emotional support, availabilty of condoms, free sex ,porno ,increasing divorces etc.The early childhood education under family system has to be restored. There is no point saying or blaming we have to solve the issue. Are you prepared to restore lost moral values? Are you prepared to make house a place where emotionally bound people live, instead of a sex den?Hard choice yar.

We certainly have a high yobbish mentality in this country, and an unhealthy obsession with the cult of "celebrity".
Hmm...is it possible we live in country populated by morons?
