I agree Mike, thats why I used centuries as an example, rather than millenia, well known that Alexander & even Achilles were practising that kind of thing

Many cultures were very anti-homosexual. Not just Biblical. In some tribes in Africa, homosexuals were killed.

So you're saying that if something was ever illegal or a taboo then it must be wrong?
Left-handedness used to be illegal and a taboo. Is left-handedness wrong? Should we ban it again and force everyone to use their right hand, like they used to do, because it's so wrong to be different from the majority?
Fortunately we learn with time and make new discoveries and learn to understand things better. Many things previously thought to be done by evil spirits or something have been explained by now and turn out to be health issues, genetic defects or variations etc. Science is showing us now that homosexuality is neither a choice nor a disease, so why should we stay in the dark about it and stubbornly insist that it's wrong?
I don't know about you, but I'm glad we don't live in the dark ages.

There is no need to guess at the matter, for the Bible clearly shows that an intelligent, unseen person has been controlling both men and nations. It says: "The whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one." And the Bible identifies him, saying: "The one called Devil and Satan . . . is misleading the entire inhabited earth."—1 John 5:19; Revelation 12:9.
Fornication: Sex before marriage, adultery, bestiality, incest, and homosexuality are all serious sins against God. (Leviticus 18:6; Romans 1:26, 27; 1 Corinthians 6:9, 10) If a couple are not married but are living together, they should separate or else get legally married.—Hebrews 13:4.

Homosexuality was not taboo for centuries - in Roman and Greek times males having sex with other men was a part of life! Men were for pleasure and women for childbearing.
It was during the C19th that homosexuality between men (not between women) was made illegal in the UK - prior to that period there was no law against it.

The same reason that for centuries sex before marriage was taboo, to be a single parent was a sin etc. etc. Its just the sign of the times. Due to a small minority of narrowminded people, there will always be a stigma attached to anyone who is slightly different to the norm.

Mostly due to influence of the Christian religion. Though the fact is history records acts of "homosexual encounters" in history before Christianity even existed... Homosexuality got the same treatment as those with "Pagan" belief systems - they were against it so it's considered "wrong". With Christianity, you were either with them or against them and back then people were forced through violence to convert, unlike how it is simple verbal pressure to convert today- so most of the population converted. I guess they made their religion so strict that even Christians are finding it difficult and unrealistic to "stick to it", and is why Christianity has become more lenient throughout the generations.... But that of course, is my opinion....

Well lets see...
witchcraft ie using healing the sick was also illegal and punishable by death and toorture.
Why ?
lack of education and ability to think rationally had people swallowing every bit of abusive crap the relgious spat out.
now people know better and starting to think logically.
ie how murdered millions for being a nice hippie pagan and made relgious wars... the gays or the relgious?

So child abuse, wife bashing etc are OK because they were illegal and taboo for centuries?
Just because it was "OK" in the past doesn't make it right.

becasue law was governed by the church for centuries, now we all know God is a lie we have started changing the laws.
if God had it his way I´d be illegal for being a non believer, I´d get hanged as a witch or something

Because of the Bible?
I think the world has finally seen that they should write the laws themselves and not be swayed by a fictional story.
