"Energy independence now rivals health care as the top domestic concern. In an April Center for American Progress poll, 60 percent of Americans supported bold action on global warming. A staggering 79 percent believe shifting to alternative energy sources will help the economy and create, not cost, jobs. Voters think the United States is falling behind other countries, and they want government to lead." Robert Borsage and KV Heuval

It's not just transportation that drives our dependence on crude oil, but also EATING. As my brother-in-law pointed out...for every one calorie of food that you eat, it takes about 7-10 calories of fossil fuel to get it to your plate (planting, fertilizing, growing, harvesting, processing, packaging, delivery, refridgeration, etc.)
Fuel will always be 'cheap' because of the government subsidies. If we allowed the market to set the price of gas, we really should be paying about $7-11 per gallon in 2007. But the government subsidy encourages us to use more gas and find more uses for crude oil. I don't think there will be enough serious incentive to develop not just the alternate fuels, but a practical means for producing and distributing the alternate fuel UNTIL gasoline reaches $8/gallon.

No one gets my Hummers! One on the entertainment Centre and the other on the bookcase. I would love a real one but they are way too pricey and they are gas guzzlers. Too bad because you can go anywhere in one. When did health care fall off the top? In Canada it's supposed to be one of our big concerns. The
auto industry is putting out hybrids, etc. as an alternative. The thing is decades ago someone invented an alternative fuel source and someone bought the patent and destroyed it. The oil companies aren't going to put up with that--no
alternatives for them.

Two years ago I bought a GMC Yukon. That was when gas was 2.00 a gallon. I knew that when I bought it and I have never complained about the rising costs of gas. Now with it 3.59 a gallon I am going to get rid of the Yukon and go back to a car, actually I am doing that today. To much money too much gas.

People who can afford a hummer don't worry much about gas price.

Alternate fuels are just part of the solution to get to energy Independence. Which I fear is still much in the future.

How ought to you adore somebody who might desire this type of component on the infant he helped create? If he became so in contact approximately having a infant, he ought to have taken the needed steps to circumvent it. in all possibility the only reason he continues to be loving to you as a results of fact he hopes which you will settle for the assumption to get a abortion so he can stay accountability unfastened. i might get faraway from this guy, he's immature and selfish and is not any longer guy sufficient to possess as much as what he helped do. If he continues to be urging which you would be able to get an abortion, for the infant to die, then i don't sense he would be an energetic father interior the infant's existence. I say good riddance as a results of fact any guy that should act like that may not a guy in any respect. give up preserving directly to the reality which you think of he's going to settle for the infant, he instructed you that he does not like it, so give up attempting to push the assumption on it. start up focusing on your self so which you would be able to create a good existence for this infant and the 1st component you're able to do is do away with that so stated as guy of yours.
