I have a 2400+ AMD processor 1GB RAM, 80 GB hard disk. I have a 9600SE 128MB card would this be a good card to purchase? I was also thinking of the ATI 9600 XT.

The X1550 has a 50mhz faster core clock and 200mhz faster memory clock than the 9600XT. X1550 is also Vista ready and supports HD videos.

But the X1550 or the 9600XT won't be an awesome upgrade since they both only have 4 pixel pipelines (same as the 9600SE). Better gaming performance can be obtained from the 8 pixel pipeline 7300GT AGP or the 12 pixel pipeline 7600GS AGP.

I agree that it is just a minor upgrade and maybe a waste of money. The x1950 AGP series of cards are a better jump in performance. I went from a 9700 Pro to an HIS x1950 256mb AGP.

The 9600xt isn't really an upgrade - I'd call it just a replacement. If you are trying to keep your costs down, keep what you have unless you HAVE to upgrade.

Waste, for 20 to 60 dollars more you can get the xfx 8600 video card that has Direct X 10 technology. I plan on getting that card its just 164.99 . Not a lot of bang for you buck with that video card.
