Gun control has been successful in other countries such as England, Canada, and Australia. We all know that NRA money is going to our legislators through lobbyists. The right to bear arms no longer applies to our times. The only people that need guns are law enforcement people. Why does someone need a pistol or automatic weapon to hunt rabbits?

Because too many people loves guns here in the US and refuse to allow any further gun regulation...do you remember the Brady bill...requiring a waiting period and criminal background check before buying a gun? People were outraged they had to wait to buy a gun

Have you researched your statements at all?

Do you have any idea what it takes to legally get an automatic weapon in the United States? Do you know anyone who hunts rabbits with a pistol?

Have you looked at crime statistics in the countries that you list as the shining examples of successful gun control?

Check out the website http://www.nationmaster.com and take a look at some of the statistics...

Here are some of the highlights I found:

Less than 40% of homicides in the US is with a firearm

The number of rapes per capita in Canada and Australia is over twice that of the United States

The UK has more robberies per capita than the US does. The UK also has a higher Total Crime Rate per capita than the US does.

The UK, Australia, Canada, and the US all have very similar rates of assault per capita.

Whether you want to admit it or not, the world is stabilized by violence or the threat of violence. Fights over territory and ideals are as old as the human race.

If you feel so strongly about the issue, go create your own anti-gun lobby. Build your lobby so it is as large as the NRA is. Both you an I know it will never happen. Gun violence is a symptom of societal issues in the US. Until we fix the problem, taking guns away isn't going to fix a thing.

The only people who get disarmed in a gun ban would be law-abiding citizens. This would lead, as it did in England and Australia, to a jump in crime, including gunshot deaths. Why? Because then criminals did not have to worry about their own safety when committing crimes.

And what makes you think people have automatic weapons? Those are not legal to use for hunting, and are not even legal to own unless one has a special government issued license.

Pistols are for personal defense and home defense.

And the fact is that responsible gun owners are seldom the ones who let guns get into the hands of children. And it is the NRA who holds classes in gun safety so children understand the danger of guns. The NRA is all about responsible, safe, law-abiding gun ownership, as well as increased enforcement of gun laws and punishment of criminals who use guns.

do you really think if you pass a law to get rid of guns criminals wont get them ? that is the dumbest thing I've ever heard. three's laws against drugs and there all over. there is a law against drunk driving and they arrest thousands a day for it. passing a law does nothing !!!!! if you take guns out of the hands of law abiding people only the crooks will have guns. i have a concealed carry permit and i stopped a burglary at my house if i didn't have that gun what would have happened to us ? the government needs to go after the criminals and leave the honest people alone.

So exactly which of your other rights are you ready to legislate away, since you're so free to give up your right, not given by the Second Amendment but simply recognized by it, to bear arms?

Sad that there are too many people like you who think that our rights as citizens are subject to the times we live in.

i grew up in a community that owned alot of legal weapons...there was not a huge problem with crime...what is the percentage of crime used with an illegal weapon versus that used with a legal weapon in the major cities of the united states...let;s start by answering that first and redefining the question of how to get the illegal weapons off the street...since they are more than likely the ones used in the majority of the crimes...

I hate to think of only criminals having guns.
Maybe you should think of responsible people being able to have guns. Gangs have guns, robbers have guns, killers have guns. Keep voting and maybe we will all not have guns and everyone will be happy.
