How do you kill a bush with a deep root system?

I have a mysterious bush in my yard that has a deep root system and to kill it. It gets little red flowers in the spring and has long thorns on some of the branches. I don't know what it is called but it will not die . I've cut on it, covered it with landscaping material that blocks out the sun. I'm trying to dig it up but it's roots are really deep. I've already dug a couple of feet on one side of it and still have not reached the bottom of it. It sends up shoots that are several feet away from the mother plant.. It's a monster....I think it is laughing at my efforts.. please help :)

Use Roundup. That stuff will kill anything. Be careful you don't spray it on anythng you want to live.

Use a tree and brush killer. Just make sure you don't get the tree and brush killer near any of your trees, it will kill a full size tree just as easily as it will that bush. Sometimes burning a bush will work, but that may not get down to get the roots. Follow the directions on the bottle.

It sounds like you have something like multi-flora rose. I'm not sure that's what it is, but multi-flora rose is quite a pain.

Another good way is to get someone that has a descent size tractor (45 horsepower or more) and have them hook chains around the base of it then use a drawbar between the hydraulic arms and lift the hydraulic arms up. If it starts to lift the front of the tractor up you may need to add weights to the front of the tractor or you may need to pull it out by having them drive forward some. Don't use ropes. Ropes can act like a rubber band and sling shot at a person if they break, possibly killing someone if it hits them. Chains don't stretch and fall straight to the ground. Chains are much safer. After you pull it out of the you can light a fire in the pit where the brush was pulled out and that should do a pretty good job of killing it off. If any shoots come up after all that, the tree and brush killer should work.

It the surroundings are safe try a little gasoline and burn it, you can also apply vinegar to it
