A small form factor PC is just a regular PC in a very small case. The prices are about the same as a full size PC, or slightly higher. The disadvantage to a small form is that you can not add anything else to it (second hard drive, second CD/DVD, etc.).

Unless you need something small to save space, avoid them. You will be sorry you bought one when you want to upgrade six months from now and can't because the case is too small.

I usually build mine with regular ATX form factors. However, if the motherboard I want is in another size then I will probably buy it and design my case around it.

I like the space regular ATX has. And since BTX is no longer supported by Intel it seems we will be using ATX for some time.
