Most computers at home have two firewalls, one in the router (hardware firewall) & one on the computer (software firewall), if you have downloaded a free firewall this would nomanly turn off windows firewall.

yes you can have more than 1 firewall but alot of times they will conflict with each other.if you have a 2nd firewall installed it is probably in your anti-virus and it was shut down as not to conflict with the windows firewall. if you have DSL your router has a firewall in the NATS system. you can do port forwarding to open this port to limewires port settings. and then go to control panel /security/ windows firewall/ exceptions/ add port/ and then add limewires port settings to the port and it will be a TCP port.
to go to your router NATS system. In the address bar type in your IP address. when your router log on comes up click OK,now find the NATS settings click on the #1 port, when the new screen comes up click on open ports and it will be TCP and add the port limewire uses, click OK and you have done a port forwarding.
NOTE: ISP's know what ports P2P networks use and often limit the bandwidth to these port and this may not speed up your limewire download speed.

Yes, it is possible, but not recommended. One PC; one Firewall, is the best practice.
Look in Add/Remove Programs. Any installed firewall will be listed there. Delete all but the one you trust, then turn the Windows Firewall off as well.

Generally, theres the useless Windows Firewall.
Then you can have software firewalls such as ZoneAlarm, kerio, comodo etc which sit in the system tray by the Windows Clock.
Alsoc if you have a router, you will have to log in to it to open the ports there too.

Most routers have a firewall build into them. Check your manual for how to access it. (Different for each model).
Plus if you have a full anti-virus program, such as Norton Security, that may include a firewall also.
