Because while we're lucky enough to have the NHS, and free contraceptives for all, there is still a taboo associated with the acquiring of such items.

So, many young people would rather go without using a condom, then go through the embaresment of actually buying a packet, or going to a family planning clinic etc.

Plus the sex education is our schools isn't wonderful. It's not as bad as being taught nothing but abstaining, but it certainly should be made a bigger deal of, and better information given. Indeed, parents should play a role, but with the embarresment factor again, few parents and teenagers wish to discuss such matters with each other.

I was lucky enough to be taking child development at GCSE, so knew in depth about almost all forms of contraceptive available. However, in our school we didn't learn about contraception untill Yr 9 or 10, which is often 'too late' in some cases of teenage pregnancy. I know not every school is the same.

This means all the real abusers get away with it as all the attention is on the ones helping kids.

In holland they start from age 5, and kloads of lessons completely interwined with all lessons all the way through education in a frank, open, realxed realisitic way.

Not marriage but how teeangers are likely to feel and do it for fun and affection.

The fourteen year olds get trips to sex shops to discuss all the products, there is constant condom practice etc.

its all about preparing the kids to know everything about sex and realtioships and be completely at ease discussing things,.

UK was one of the earliest industrialised societies. It has always needed to keep a 'lumpenproletariat' - a mass of people to provide a flexible and easily managed pool of labour, cheap to employ and not fussy about their rights.

This is why there is such ambivalence about education in UK - the lumpenproletariat will disappear with education. It has not disappeared yet, and that is where you will find the teenage pregnancies. They are due to lack of education - lack of knowledge, lack of other opportunities.

The U.K. and most of Europe have stopped being as religious as they traditionally were. The children are not being taught real moral values anymore but are being taught moral relativism. In other words, there is less and less real morality among the people. Their lack of church attendance says it all.

Pregnant teens is only a symptom of what is steadily becoming a soul-less socialist society.

mainly because we are about 20years behind the times in teaching our children about the facts of life, not only in our schools but in our homes .
we the parents are guilty, we allow them to watch programmes about things concerning sex on our t.v. scenes, or the pictures , but we do not educate them on the rights and wrongs of what their have watched,
say in Eastenders , the young ones see kissing and worst, but we do not say to them children , " I DO NOT WANT TO SEE YOU DOING THAT DAUGHTER/SON , BECAUSE IT IS WRONG AND THAT PROGRAMME IS SHOWING YOU WHAT CAN HAPPEN " we the parents just sit back and believe that their know it is wrong,
WE MUST EDUCATE OUR CHILDREN OURSELVES VIA THE SCHOOLS , CHURCHES , AND OWN FAMILIES..
Ask yourself , how many children of 11/12 know about how to have a baby , then comp[air that to , How many 11/12 year old know what and how many different contraception their is .
