The space shuttle can carry maximum around 3-4 weeks worth of consumables (food, water, oxygen supply etc.) for a crew of
7.

Due to the Columbia disaster, NASA is limiting non-ISS shuttle missions, so if the shuttle develops problems in space, the crew can use the ISS as a shelter to await rescue. Just about the only non-ISS shuttle mission allowed so far is the upcoming Hubble repair mission.

Hope this helps.

The shuttle itself would survive until atmospheric drag caused it to re-enter Earth's atmosphere and burn up. How long that takes depends on many factors.

How long the crew could survive would depend on what they had taken up there in terms of life support facilities. Generally speaking the shuttle can be supplied for a mission lasting a few weeks.

commonly the commute is in low earth orbit and the time is relative to its distance above the exterior of the earth. commonly approximately ninety minutes for one orbit. At decrease altitudes, the drag from earth's environment is larger so decrease and swifter orbits are no longer commonly used. the gap commute isn't designed to realize the intense altitude required for geo-synchronous orbit and consequently has in no way been used for that purpose. The gas required to realize that altitude is merely too great to make it useful for a motor vehicle that great. it relatively is greater a count of being useful and no longer expensive than it relatively is a technical difficulty.
