on saturday afternoon, my bunny went to the vet as we noticed she was getting quite sick.
She a large build up of gunk in her tear ducts and she is finding it hard to keep her eyes open. Her nose is running and she is wheezing.
She has been on 0.7mls of anti-biotics tiwce a day for 3 days, and nothing really has happened.
I also noticed that she has been bleeding from 'down there' i'm not sure if she is just menstruating of if she has some sort of internal/external bleeding.
She is still eating, but very little and her poops are quite small.
Any tips on what i can do before tomorrow when i go to the vet again?

The sneezing and runny eye sounds like she has some sort of cold and infection. Did your vet take any samples from your rabbit to determine what was actually causing the problem before prescribing a medicine. I'd recommend your vet does that.

The blood in the urine could be from a number of things. It could even be due possibly to the medicine it is being given. Although don't stop giving it the medicine because I said that.

Some vets aren't he most rabbit savvy. If your vet is having trouble diagnosing the problem, you might contact Dr. Chris Hayhow. He is a rabbit vet that knows a lot about rabbits. His contact information can be found at the website below:

You could either contact him yourself with the symptoms or have your vet contact him. It might be a good idea to have your vet contact him. So the tests and symptoms could be discussed at a more professional level that you may not be able to convey easily due to terminology and procedures.

I know a good bit about rabbit diseases, but this is something where you need a vet that really knows his stuff.

It sounds like your rabbit has multiple problems and unless it is treated properly soon you may lose it.

I am so sorry. We can only hope that this is a nasty cold, but it sound a bit like Myxomatosis (not sure about the bleeding though).

My rabbit died of this a few years ago despite all of my efforts to help him. I tried antibiotics, cleansing the infected areas with warm normal saline (eyes, genitals etc), warmth, comfort, EVERYTHING.

I guess what i'm saying is that If I could go back, I would have allowed the vet to put him to sleep as soon as she diagnosed Myxomatosis.

Good luck, I really do wish you the best.

Just keep her comfortable, make sure she is eating and drinking.

I hope the vet is a exotics/small animal specialist, not just a dog & cat vet. If not, ask if there is one in your area that can take a look at your bunny.

If she is bleeding, depending on her age, it could be a sign of uterine cancer. If they are not spayed and not bred, they will develop it by age 5.

I'm not sure, but there is a pretty viscious disease that rabbits can get it is called mixamatosis, it is pretty rare now and has similar symptoms to what you describe.
Check also that your bunnie has not had access to any rat poison as this could be fatal to it.
I hope your bunnie gets better.
Good luck.

she is obviously getting worse. and the bleeding is not normal as rabbits dont have peroids where they bleed like us.
take her back to the vat ASAP as this all sounds very serious.
