have you thought about how often we use this phrase! It was brought to my attention by a child I work with who repeats it frequently! Now I'm looking for some alternatives- how many are there!

I don't like this phrase. I was disappointed when I heard Jeremy Paxman using it repeatedly on University Challenge. I much preferred Bamber Gascoigne's 'Have to hurry you'.

I personally never use it.

As an alternative, you could say "Go on, then..." which isn't that much different, is it? come on sounds somewhat impatient though, and go on then, sounds more encouraging, I think.

Alternatives, depending on situation/context.
Come on , Then
Go on, then,
What do you think?
Hmmm?
Let's try this?
I'll leave you to do it for yourself?
