It's not a question of legislation, but a question of a "duty of care". It is the pharmaceutical company who set the dosage of any given medication, and the doctor, nurse or medical professional will follow it unless there is a specific reason to increas or decrease, based on established professional practice. To just disregard guidelines set by medical professionals is negligent, and could result in either civil or criminal proceedings
