It's the same as watching an action movie, fake and scripted. Granted it would be a really bad movie, but "entertainment" none the less.

First off, don't make a generalization about Americans. I know plenty of Americans who absolutely detest wrestling in any form.
Secondly, wrestling isn't fake. Scripted? Yes, but it is not fake. You can't fake jump off a rope, or a ladder or kick someone. You can do it in a safer way to try to insure you or your opponent decrease your chances of something going wrong, but you still have to actually do the moves.
Go get in a ring and do what they do for 5 minutes and then tell me again it's fake.

I'm from Australia and I'm saying this loud and proud...
"DONT DIS THE AMERICANS!"
All of us (not just the Americans), know that its scripted!
It's called World Wrestling ENTERTAINMENT for a reason.... to entertain us!
I absolutly loooooove wrestling, I breath wrestling, it's always been my life and always will be!
Even though it's fake, I probably like it better that way!
I mean it would be AWESOME to see Jeff Hardy performing Swan Ton Bomb just in the middle of a street, but they could get seriously hurt! And another reason they are scripted is because.... if you have a match between Batista vs. Edge, like the one they had at Judgment Day, you would know in real life that Edge would stand no chance, and because Batista is so strong, it would be hard for someone to beat him and Batista may stay champ for ages, and it could get boring!
I love wrestling soooooooo much and I love it just the way it is!
They put their bodies on the line each and every day just to entertain us!
I've said this MANY times, that I hate John Cena, though for what he does in the WWE, I respect him 100%! I respect them all 100%, even if I hate them!
You can call WWE/ECW/TNA scripted, but one thing you cant call them....... is fake!
Here's my point:
AT this very moment, all of the wrestlers listed below are injured:
- Shawn Michaels!
- Triple H! (This means that BOTH members of DX are out!)
- The Undertaker!
- Misteeeeerrrrrr, Kennedy.....KENNEDY!
- Rey Mysterio!
- KING, hence the word...'KING', Booker! ect.
And just to add, all of these wrestlers are main eventers!
This just goes to show you how REAL WWE/TNA/ECW is!
So there you go!

Same reason people watch Desperate Housewives, Lost, 24, whatever else show you like.
You know the feuds aren't real, but it's entertaining.
Like my husband usually says, it's soap opera for men!
Saying that it's fake is wrong though, they do a lot in the ring. It takes a lot to do what they do in the ring, even if it is scripted!
Guys who started WWE actually quit WWE again cause they found it more difficult and more work not to hurt people like they do in "full contact" wrestling.
To show the extent of how serious the injuries are when they do occour though, Gregory Helms recently broke his neck, but even so, he'll be back. (In a year or so)
Other wrestlers has also done this in the past.
There is no way in hell they'd just jump back from injuries like that and continue if they weren't real athletes who takes good care of their body.

Americans aren't the only ones, pal, so don't make it just about the U.S. There are other nations all over the world more into it than America. Japan, Canada, Europe, Mexico, they all have their devoted, and passionate fans. It's so big in those four nations that they've grown a distinct style of professional wrestling. It's so big in Mexico that if a luchador loses his mask, men and women will openly cry! Get your head out of your glorified nationalist ass and realize the world is made up of people, not countries.

Wrestling is entertainment. Why do you watch your favorite shows? Because they entertain you, right? And it's not only Americans who love wrestling. The WWE regularly tours other countries, and they sell out shows all over Europe and Asia as well.

Good idea isolating Americans - im Australian. Wrestling is like a TV show or a Movie. I think wrestling in this analogy .....
Bold & The Beautiful + Violence = Wrestling

LOL.
I love how you just used Americans here. You seem to completely forget pro wrestling exists in Japan, Europe, Australia, Mexico, and other places.
I'm not a smart man, but I realize that there are a hell of a lot more people that love wrestling than besides us Americans.

well first offas an American, ouch!!!, and secondly not all Americans likewrestiling. The majority dont watch it. The majority of people who do watch dont know that it is fake and are about 6-12 years old. most of the adults who do like wrestilng are rednecks, and that is normally in the gulf of mexico area. also americans from the united states are not the only ones who like to watch wrestling, it is also very popular in latin america.
