He was in the campaign office for one, and i don't think he wanted to catch her because she told him something he never thought about which was that his mother has been keeping the two of them apart for all these years for a purpose. He probably thought aboput that and stayed to let her get away and help Peter. Of course, the fun question is how did he know where to find them? His mother had to tell him something.

If Nathan Petrelli can fly, why didn't he fly out of the window and catch Claire?
- The whole show, Nathan's been in denial about his powers. He doesn't want to be 'special'.
As for why he doesn't catch Claire, he was very much inside his own head at that moment. Thinking about all that Claire had just said to him.
Besides, he knew she couldn't be hurt.
why the hell didn't he fly out of there right away instead of waiting for his brother to show up and carry both of them off?
- I believe that Peter was concentrating so hard on not going nuclear that he couldn't access any of his other powers. If Claire had shot Peter, he would have died permentatly (they had pre-determined that she was to shoot him in the one vulnerable shot on the brain).
Nathan gave up his life so Peter could live.

Good questions. Best I can say is they're human, and humans never do the logical thing, they just react. And sometimes we don't react the way other people think we should. Since flying isn't something Nathan did on a regular basis, it wouldn't be an instinctive reaction for him. Ditto for Peter - besides - he was busy trying not to explode.

Because it was unexpected and Nathan knows deep down inside Claire is right and he wants to save his brother.
ajs, Peter did not fly because he was using all of his control to not explode and kill millions. If he would have thought even a little bit about flying he would have exploded.

Nathan is still in denial of his power I think. Especially in front of his control freak mother. That is why he didn't fly out the window to catch Claire. I have no idea why Peter does what he does, it's strange.

I asked myself the same question.
It didn't make any sense then, and it still doesn't now.
Also, if Peter could use the other heroes' powers without being near them
(he used invisibility repeatedly for example)
why the hell didn't he fly out of there right away instead of waiting for his brother to show up and carry both of them off?

I think he secretly wants her to stay and help prevent the explosion. Plus she is already not very happy with him so if he flew down and got her she would disown him. Also she can survive the explosion so he had no need to rush.
