VENUS is named after the Roman goddess of love and beauty because it is the brightest and most beautiful object in the night sky after the Sun and the Moon.
Similarly SATURN was the Roman god of agriculture, ironic because the planet has no surface to farm.
In both these cases it is not clear if the plants got the name from the Gods/goddess or the Gods/Goddess got it from the Planent. However because of the similarity in nature the both got the names-

Because, Romans named there gods after lanets (obvously, lol) but, they have the same gods as the greeks
Aphrodite-Venus
Demeter-Saturn
so, they basically were the EXACT same, the Romans and the Greeks just named them all different.
