I think it's safe to say that Peter did not die. Nathan, on the other hand, probably should.
I guessed this ending, exactly as it played out, only because it was the only ending that made sense inthe context of the story.
Nathan had to redeem himself somehow, we all knew he was good at heart, and he and his brother has this unbreakable bond. Nathan had to do what was right.
Don't think of it some much in the sense of who has what power, thnk of it in the sense of what story arcs had to be carried out. Hiro had to kill Sylar, and Nathan had to show he wasn't selfish and stubborn.
As for Hiro, I think he's time traveled back to the time when people were first given these gifts by some Solar eclipse related occurance.
That all said, this finale was freaking fantastic. I disagree with the guy who said it left more questions. It resolved what we were told would be resolved.

Peter can't be dead, he can heal. Nathan is probably not dead, we'll find out next season. Sylar is still alive. If Claire would have shot him, he probably would have exploded, thats why Nathan took him. I loved the finale, but it did leave me confused, and wanting more. I can't wait for the next season, it's going to be better!! Heroes are the best, I don't think I've ever liked a show as much as I like Heroes.

Theory 1. If Nathan is coming back then he flew away fast, Peter blew up, regenerated and they will both be back next season. Theory 2. If Nathan is not coming back, he died in the explosion, Peter absorbed his flying power again and will fly back to earth being around for next season. Sylar drug himself in to the sewer, which sucks, cuz I hate him. But here is my confusion, why is it that Peter only retains certain powers? Like if he could fly, why didn't he just fly away instead of having Nathan take him? Granted it wouldn't have done the story line any favors cuz they had to end with the whole "love" subject title, but still, it seems strange.

Nathan took Peter up into the sky to have him explode, he can still heal himself since he has Claire's powers so I am sure he will be alive and didn't die he just exploded cause it seems when his anger sets in he gets in explode mode, I don't think Nathan died either, I'm sure if flew away(cause he is really fast) before the blast.
Things that I didn't notice the first time was that Sylar's body dragged away, or crawled away into the sewer hole. I am glad that Hiro stabbed him though it was the highlight for me.

Ok first of all Nathan is the one who can fly and he took Peter in the sky so he can blow up there and I dont think Peter knew that that could happen he thought he had to be killed. I think they are all alive because at the end they show the blood trail that ended up at the sewer which is Sylar. Claire could of killed Peter if she shot him in the head. But whats up with Hiro ending up in the 1600s now thats weird? Heros is better than 24

Oh my that was an awesome show . I loved it . No unfortunately sylar is still alive he climbed down that sewer like the rat that he is . I think that nathan wanted to be with his brother when he died . I am still a little confused myself . But I knew sylar could not defeat all of them and I was glad that all of them showed up . Now all of them know they exsist and they will probably go into hiding again . I hope that hiro will get more strength from mid-evil japan and talking to kensai (his hero) . I am glad that hiro now knows that he can put that sword into sylar and not be afraid . I love this show .

the ending was exactly what I thought it would be, more questions left than answers.
Peter couldn't fly, because he told Nathan he can't control himself, or do anything. Nathan saved New York in turn for his life.
Sylar is STILL alive. what does it take to kill this guy anyways? apparently he doesn't need Claire's healing factor.
and was it just me, or did Kensei look like Hiro's father? it would explain how he was able to teach Hiro bushido.

1.Yes and no
2. Maybe but if he dropped Peter maybe not
3. Not likely or he would have gone boom
4. If she shot Peter it would have been in the head so NO it would have killed him like Eden
5. Peter is an empath. His powers come through his emotions and once the rage triggered the explosion he could not use it to call on his other powers.
6. It all seemed a little too Biblical to me, Peter and Gabriel fighting and Noah, Clare, Micah and Matthew are in attendance allong with two wise men from the East and a girl named Molly (Mary). Give it a thought and this stuff seems to be the lead in to Armageddon.

Yes
That is one reason why Nathan flew Peter up into the sky.
The other was because Peter could explode and not harm anyone, and he could heal himself (pending he has nothing lodged into his brain, Molly could find him and the heroes could help him)
Peter did not fly into the sky because he was trying to control the nuclear reaction inside of him, so he was a bit distracted and could not fly.
I love the season finale. It was awesome!

in accordance to the blogs on the NBC web site it is the tip of the season a minimum of till the strike is over. till it does not end for a mutually as then it is the season Finale. i do no longer think of it particularly is going to be sequence finale in spite of the undeniable fact that, too many anybody is addicted! So unhappy in spite of the undeniable fact that. they are rather going to break this season. Dumb strike. I make $8/hr. be delighted with what you have !
