It was due tocollective failure of batting, bowlngand fiielding. Aftertheir convincing victories in the series against West Indies and Sri Lanka played in India just before the world cup, Indian team became very over confident and complacent and as such they did not take Bangladesh in their first worldcup match very seriously and they paid the price for the same.

The main reasons for India's dismal performance in the WC2007 are: (1) The team was over-confident of their victory against the Bangladeshis. They took their victory for granted and this eventually led to the downfall of the team. (2) The Indian team was completely demoralised when they met Srilanka. Every player was playing for his survival only and not for the team. (3) The team did not have even a single all-rounder, where as the Srilanka had players Jayasuriya, Arnold, Vaas to name a few !

well, these so called players are first of all not patriotic. A majority of them got into the team by hook or crook. And we the public made hero's out of them. Now these hero's started making fast money in the ad world. They are so busy doing ads that they do not have time for practise and because of this they lost touch of what little cricket they knew. Practise makes you perfect. These dummy hero's should be banned form doing any ads. They are cricketers and there job is to only play cricket or else they should be thrown out. Just imagine sachin getting several crores because of ads. So it really does not matter to him whether he plays well or not. He is making heaps of money and so are most of the other so called cricketers.
Unless all this stops indian cricket will be a failure against any average team.

According to me
1. Inability to keep in pace with current standards of quality shown by players of other countries.
2. Lack of commitment and accountability.
3. lack of dedication and passion.
4. Almost no preperation to face any quality pace attack on any pitch
5. little bit of misfortune (but as they say, fortune favours the brave)
6. No guts to face tough situation and giving up easily as a result.
7. Overly confident thats they can get away even after such a dismal performance (which is turning out that they were right)
8. Tendency of the indian fan and cricket board to be loyal to a player even after performing miserably because of whom they show up again and again in the team
whew...! this was long !

The team sucks. That was proven at world cup. They need to get a lot better before the next world cup to save embarrassment in their own hometown. Think of the embarrassment of the Barbados team...

This is the tendency of Indian cricket team not to take anything seriously unless it comes to very serious position.
