Based on his numbers, yes. It's a difficult call since we don't know who else used steroids. Where do you draw the line?

If Bonds doesn't go into the hall of fame, then noone from this era of baseball deserves the hall. The man with alleged steroid use is the greatest player in the history of the game. Without the alleged steroids, he is the greatest player since Willie Mays. Either way, he is a first ballot HOF.
Don't even put McGwire and Bonds in the same sentence. The only reason Bonds got caught up in this mess is that his ego couldn't stand to see slobs like McGwire and Sosa breaking records and being called great while his everyday brilliance was being diminished by sportswriters and fans who didn't like him in the first place. It's no excuse, but McGwire not getting doesn't compare. Bonds is a first ballot selection unless he shoots steroids while in the batter's box buck naked while placing a bet against his team with a crooked umpire.

Swish knows what he's talking about. Bonds was a lock for the hall of fame long ago. You can't ban a player with "his head got bigger" as your main evidence. IF it's ever proven 100% that he took steroids, he still did a hell of a lot better than the tons of other players who used steroids. If we decide to ban him from baseball over allegations then let's throw out everyone else who looks suspsect as well. Also, you may not like him, but keeping a player out of the hall of fame because he "wasn't nice to the media and fans" is crazy. Have we become that wimpy and whiney in this country? Ty Cobb was a bigger jerk than Bonds will ever be. He's in because he was a great player, like Bonds.

Of course Barry deserves to be in the Hall of Fame. Even if he doesn't hit another home run for the rest of his life. Barry has never been proven to have taken steroids, and i thought this country u where innocent until proven guilty. He may not be a fan favorite but he is definitely a Hall of Famer and possibly one of the best to ever play the game.

Perhaps this is what drives me crazy about Bonds the most. He would have been a first-ballot HOF'er had he never been caught up in all of this. Would he be 10 behind Aaron? Probably not, but he would be around 650 by the time his career was over. I think the baseball writers set the precedent last season with McGwire. If McGwire didn't get in on the first ballot, neither should anyone else whose name is connected with the whole steriods scandal. Yeah, he's a jerk, but he's still one of the best players in baseball history. Apparently Cobb was one of the worst characters in baseball history, but he was one of the original five to get voted in. Character doesn't play a role in what happens on the field (as far as the numbers are concerned), nor should it for the HOF.

Yes. He cheated, and we all know it, but some of you dont understand is that he has hit 700+ homeruns. Steroids, did help him get that far, but you must have some kind of talent to be able to hit 700+ dingers. You cant just grab a young MLB player and juice him up on steroids, and then watch him hit 700 homeruns.

Unless somebody actually proves anything, Barry Bonds deserves to be a first ballot hall of famer (and he will be).
