I know it is a lame question to ask since the series is quite acient, but does anybody know if there are plans to continue with it? Despite its age it seems to be quite popular with the general public. I know that there are 160 + episodes, but you always want more.

Ranma is a faded memory in Japan. People still know what it is, and you can find the manga on the shelves, but it's nowhere near as popular as it once was, and nowhere near popular enough to justify more TV episodes.

The TV series was done while the manga was still being produced, and as a result, some of the best (later) manga storylines are absent from the anime. Seasons 6 and 7 have some good stories from the manga (Ukyo giving up cooking, Pantyhose-Taro), but a heck of a lot of generic "filler." If you are a fan of the TV series, you should consider reading through the manga, for some stories by the original author that you haven't already seen.

If you liked Ranma, you'd probably like Inu-Yasha and Maison Ikkoku, other series by Rumiko Takahashi. Maison Ikkoku is more romance-centric, and Inu-Yasha more action-centric.

If you really can't get enough of the Ranma story lines, and want to see more with those exact characters... you'll have to settle for fan fiction, some of which is pretty good. One of my favorites is Vince Seifert's "The Taming of the Horse":

Yeah..we always want more Ranma..sadly there are no news of any upcoming movie or continuation of the series..my best guess is that the final Ranma Chapter (on the Manga) is going to be made into a movie..because I think its the logical way to end the great great Ranma 1/2 series. And it is not a lame question my friend ^_^

It's a teen show, or at least a show primary aimed at people with juvenile minds, it's not primary aimed for kids nor for adults. The showing of breasts are allowed in Japanese TV, even in a regular time slot. On the other hand the showing of any genital is strictly forbidden in every official Japanese media, even in pornographic materials. However the majority of Japanese aren't really into breast showing and so on. Sure the Japanese TV allowed it, but that doesn't mean the Japanese agree with what ever the Japanese TV show them.
