Fun applications of math in life?

I'm looking for a fun or interesting uses of either conics, probablity, or logarithms in life. Perhaps how it is used to predict earthquakes, or in medicine, etc.

Making your person slide rule (logarithms), polling and forecasting of quite lots any scientifically justifiable form, shape of scientific growth tables (risk and information), planetary orbits and the shapes of flashlight beams on a wall (conics).
