As I stated before, I am writing an essay on the book "The Chronicle of a Death Foretold" and I have selected the autopsy. I must explain how this passage is a significant passage that has major significance in terms of style, characterization, plot development or theme. Anything would be helpful, ANYTHING! I am in desperate need of help, thanks for anything!

In my old Job, I had to watch 3 cavity Autopsy of Fatal motor vehicle collision victims.

Primarily, it may be better to establish WHAT is going to be the subject of the autopsy-Animal, Vegetable or Mineral.
The Next is, establishing the possible/probable Cause of Death, e.g GunShot, Drug, Poison or Motor Vehicle Collisin Injury..
Then what type of Autopsy was it;
3 Cavities of the Human Body;
1. the Brain
2. the Lungs
3. the Stomach
Are all 3 being examined, or is there some reason why only 1 is being dissected & the portions examined.
Also, certain Body Markings that may reveal, certain impact points of certain objects-giving Impact Direction, Severity of Impact, the Shape & Weight of Impactinng Object.
Discerning if a Projectile or knife or Axe or ? was involved in the Death, if the body was mobile at the infliction of the injury, the angle that injury was inflected and if that infliction was the actual cause of Death or was it aiding and abeting that Death

During the Proceedure, are any Extemperaneous Reasons. For the death, discovered or are there portions taken from the deceased, that Reveal certain things on examination.

If all goes well, a probable cause of Death will be established. If not, then further Invistagatory Proceedure,will be undertaken

by Gabriel Garcia Marquez?
I've read it long long time ago. The book was great in general. I like the way he describes every single detail, that evenutually makes you to feel like you are present there, in that moment, you can feel and smell everything. Also, every single event is important for that book, one thing led to another and even trivial things are important because that all made murder possible.
I don't remember every passage so good but I found this on net:
"Another main event of the section is Father Amador’s botched autopsy of Santiago, whose gore and wounds evoke much of the meaning of this passage. For a good deal of the book, Santiago is treated as a sort of idea, a man maligned by fate and misremembered by the community that failed him. In Chapter Four, however, Garcia Marquez shows him as a human being. His death throes are described in horrific, close detail, and Garcia Marquez makes much of the comparison to Jesus Christ, noting stigmata in Santiago’s left hand. Like Christ, Santiago has been sacrificed for a sin that he (likely) did not commit; he is a scapegoat, a sacrificial lamb in white linen. And like Christ, his martyrdom is recorded in gruesome physical detail.

"And the autopsy—a second death, as his mother notes—is just as disrespectful and senseless as the murder itself. It tells us nothing new at all. Perhaps its only function is to make the villagers feel better about their failure to prevent the death—after all, Father Amador “discovers” that Santiago would only have lived a short while longer anyway due to an enlarged liver. We can doubt very much the truth of this conclusion; it seems merely to serve as a sort of umbrage for a guilty town. As with the constant talk of coincidences, the town would rather blame fate for Santiago’s death than scrutinize themselves.

Sorry, I don't know a thing about the book. Why not try a Google search about it? You may get some good answers there.
