Do you believe the US government was behind 9/11?

I don't believe the US government could do such a thing to its people but lately I've been noticing more people are believing the conspiracy theories surrounding 9/11. Rosie O'Donnell for example.. she said 9/11 was "the first time fire ever melted steal".

It's well-known that steel loses most of its strength when heated by a simple fire, especially a jet fuel fire. Every steel-frame building in the world has plaster surrounding
the steel to prevent it from softening in a fire, including the WTC.

When you heat steel in a simple fire, it doesn't melt, but it becomes like soft taffy. You can't hold up 100,000 tons of weight on soft taffy. Remember: The steel beams are not just sitting there for cosmetic reasons. The beams are supporting fantastic amounts of weight.

Unfortunately, the steel in the WTC buildings was coated with "sprayed-on" fire-proofing. This material didn't get applied completely & a lot was knocked off by the jets. The steel was unprotected, a deadly situation. On top of this, numerous supported were knocked out by the jets. The steel softened from the fierce fire. Then it bent as 100,00 tons pressed down on it. The floors sagged. This pulled in the outside columns.

==> Photographs show the columns bending inward. This is absolute evidence of steel weakening.

Then the columns snapped (broke) inward & the remaining column sprang outward. This causes\d the building to then collapse.

==> If this could not happen, then everybody wouldn't be wasting their money "fireproofing" steel.

I don't think the US government was behind the 9/11 conspiracy, but certain factions within the government were. You can't plan something of this magnitude, without government intervention. Rosie O'Donnell is one of the few people who has the courage to speak out against this conspiracy. Because she has her own reputation, people tend not to listen to her; but she's pretty much on the mark. Clearly, the twin towers were imploded, as was the 3rd building that fell. Did this happen by accident--3 times? There are simply too many grey areas.

Rosie in misinformed like a lot of the theorists. The fire did not melt the steel. The planes' impact heavily damaged the outer support systems and destroyed most of the fire proofing or the floor trusses on those particular floors. The trusses bent and bent under the intense weight and heat pulling the (heavily damaged) outer supports inward. Those finally broke and the building collapsed. There was never any melting of any steal.

The design and engineering of the buildings actually allowed a whole lot of people to get out before they collapsed.

No, the government became no longer at the back of a plot to take down the twin towers by ability of flying 2 jet planes into them. They weren't area of a plot to fly a 0.33 into the Pentagon nor have been they in contact with flying a 4th jet right into a container in PA. each and every person in this u . s . who became alive and an grownup on 9/11 is waiting for the day Osama Bin l. a. den's head is further returned t on a platter to those seashores. that should place an end to this recession. That sooner or later started out a chain of activities digging us in a hollow.

I dont believe any of the conspiracy. Steel doesn't even have to melt...just weaken with a load on it. It will melt however. How do you think beams are made to begin with?. I'll bet there has not been one load engineer say this was a set up.

There would be literally hundreds of people who would have to be hushed up behind something like this. Makes no sense at all.

By the way, if this was a war for oil, wheres the oil? Seems to me we have the opposite problem right now. Well maybe that hidden somewhere and part of the conspiracy.

first, how do you think steel is made? it doesn't grown in the "steel forest".

second, you can't call Bush 43 an idiot, unable to keep his staff in line, and to keep secret information a secret, and in the same breath call him an evil genius, capable of killing thousands of Americans, orchastrating the biggest conspiracy in history, and not leaking a single word, or making a single connection to the government.

Rosie Odonnell is an idiot. everytime she says something controversial it proves all over again that she's a nut. Just because she's on TV doesn't mean she knows anything. You don't hear Barbara Walters (an actual reporter and news person) agreeing with Rosie on ANY of the incredibly idiotic things she spouts. Only that comedian, Ruth or whatever her name is, agrees with her, but she's not all that smart either. And SHE was a teacher.

They can talk about 'molten metal' and demolitions all day, but nobody gave any proof that the US gov did it.

Proving how it is done is not same as proving WHO did it. 9/11 conspiracy idiots completely missed that.

They got volumes of into on how WTC is demolished and whatever, but they got nothing to prove the US gov did it.

There is no way in hell that the US was behind it. Our country was hit hard that day and I think it was more of a rude awaking if anything. I believe people in this country take way to much for garnet and forget what life could be like if they didn't live here.
As for Camo... answer. We are still going after bin Laden and that is one of many reasons why we went to Iraq.

They might not have been behind it, but they probably knew what they were planning and did nothing to stop it. Bush needed something to happen so he could start his war. I find it weird that after all the talk of we're going to get Bin Laden, we skip right over that and go straight for Iraq.
