With so much communications technology available, why is today's humanity so lonely?

Ever heard of Pride? Ego? Yea got so much stuff but in the end were all forced to want to be the best, the greatest, the top dog, the number 1.... because of these we have a tendency to isolate ourselves from everyone else because no one can be that.... and deep down, we all know that, we just think thats what we need to be.... but simply put false pride.....
