Scary movies huh??
Well... Here we go!!
Let's start with the original "The Hills Have Eyes" and the remake. I enjoyed both of those immensely.
"Texas Chainsaw Massacre" was one of the best horror movies ever created! The remakes simply don't cut it. (Get it? "Cut it?" BAHAHAH!!! Oh I kill myself sometimes!)
Where was I??
Oh yes...
The original "Wicker Man" was excellent! The remake was absolute TRASH!! I HIGHLY recommend seeing the original! Guys, you'll LOVE the seduction scene!
Let's not forget the "Amityville Horror" and the "Exorcist." Both terrifying in their day, and still hold their own pretty well to this day! "The Omen" is another excellent supernatural horror.
"The Blair Witch Project" had audiences scared to go into the woods for weeks until it was proven not to be true. LOL!
"The Evil Dead" trilogy is probably one of the best horror trilogies ever! Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell made us laugh and scream at the same time! A rare feat!
Recently I have enjoyed watching several horror films.
"Undead" -- an excellent Australian Zombie film.
"Shawn of the Dead" -- do I really need to go into details on this?
"Dead and Breakfast" -- Zombie Country Rap... who could ask for more?!?
"Pan's Labyrinth" -- while not technically a horror film, still a must see!
"Fido" -- I can't recommend this film highly enough! Yes, it's a Canadian made film, but one with some bite! While not a traditional Zombie film, it still has enough blood to satisfy most "gore-mongers" and still has a great story and a delightful dry wit as well.
Lastly...
The original George Romero's "Night of the Living Dead"! An absolute masterpiece!! Still sends chills down my spine even after all these years!
There are MANY many more films which I haven't even touched on... Freddy, Jason, Michael, and more!

I would have to agree with earlier postings about the first Halloween movie. I still get scared when I see Michael Myers just standing there and that scary scary music playing! He conveys so much evil that just his presence in that movie is enough to send me hiding under the covers!

But to be more original, Saw is definitely at the top of my list! Those things are so realistic that you can't help but think it could happen to you!

Hi. My favorite scary movie would have to be PSYCHO. Alfred Hitchcock's masterpiece of the macabre starring Anthony Perkins as the troubled Norman Bates whose "old dark house"and adjoining motel are not the place to spend a quiet evening. Now one knows that better than Janet Leigh ,the films ill-fated heroine who is victimized in the now -notorious "shower scene"
Vera Miles, Martin Balsam,John Gavin and John McIntire co-star in Hitchcock's most compelling and terrifying film.

My favourite scary movies is a Thai movie called '10 ways to see a ghost'. It's very scary with a bit of humor here and there.

I have nothing against american movies, they're very entertaining...but the one genre Hollywood fares very poorly in is horror. American horror movies are like fairytales compared to the Asian ones. You wanna watch REAL scary movies, try the Asian ones.
I recommend you watch these 2 first:

1) Ju-on (the original korean version)
2) A tale of two sisters

The Shining is a classic! It is horrifying and well crafted. When I was a kid, i was soo scared at that ghost twins and that great amount of blood that splurged from the elevator. My fave movie of all time! Scream is scary too especially that unforgettable first act. ^_^

It's not considered a "scary" movie, but "Seven" is without a doubt one of the most disturbing film experiences I have ever had.

"The Ring" (the American version w/Naomi Watts), "The Grudge (the American version w/Sarah Michelle Gellar) then then "Hostel". 4th runner up would be a movie you can only find in video stores as it was not released in theatres is "Rest Stop".
