Before I die, I want to do something to impact the world. While I may not be able to completely overcome anything big, information sets one's path straight. I ask this question out of all seriousness and hope that I at least can be directed in the right path.

I thought apathy too at first like many here.
But you must play that out in your head. Apathy to what?
Is apathy worse than murder or rape? Then again most people who do this are mentally unwell making it the responsibility for people to stop them, brining it back to apathy. Yet is this too simple? Is there not a greater evil than apathy? The source of evil is difficult to trace. This is the opposite of the question I have been trying to answer which is from which ideal do all others come to be. The answer to that is the infinite tao, and the opposite of that is disharmony. Evil must be done conciously do be true evil. People are misled every day. Its hard to tell, there are many corrupt people....

Before you die? Your path will be the same no matter what, death is at the end of the path. You can choose how to walk the path, and if you want to do the most, find the way that has a heartbeat. following the path with heartbeat will bring joy into your life. Don't strive for something you can't accomplish. You said you can't overcome anything big, so don't try to overcome it, it is unimportant. Instead be one with your struggle.

Greed. If you find a way to end greed eventually the other problems will go away. Americans are apathetic because they have the "what's the point the government will do whatever they want" attitude. This is true of the government, however if the greed was removed from government hope would return and the people would rally around the flag again and build a better tomorrow.

I cannot direct anyone's path, but in my opinion greed is the greatest evil. Greed for wealth, or power, or to possess a person, or any creature, greed for control, everything bad seems to come from an excess of wanting - being greedy.

evil is not strong, it is very weak. but we can also be weak and small and petty and we allow it to rampage out of control. the true purpose of evil is to distract us from the things that really matter. if you decide that you are going to go demon hunting so that you can exert some power in this world then the demons win, because it is your own perception and fear that gives them strength. if you want to do something meaningful in this world, don't focus your eyes on evil (this is not to say ignore the dangers that are around you) but instead focus your eyes on positive things. what are you good at? what has helped you in your life? what can you put in your life that will be there every day? forget evil; demons are just angels seen through the eyes of fear.

The greatest evil in this world is that everyone is self-serving.It's all about me. The world would be much, much better if everyone would just slow down, talk to your neighbor, smile at a stranger,be nice to the elderly and children,go help someone who is truly needing it,and I could go on and on. Truly the greatest evil in this world is US, the human race.

Greed. The want of what you do not deserve, wether it be money, power, fame, wealth. The greedy hurt others to obtain. The greedy ignore others. The greedy self agrandize. The greedy kill for profit. Greed is the single most damning human flaw out there.
