It's very hard to measure happiness, because different people have different requirements to consider themselves so.
All in all, I think I'd rather be insane and happy then sane and miserable, because I think on the whole that most insane people don't see themselves as mentally ill...and I'd rather be happy then sad in any case.

i's have to say yes, a happy insane person is better off than a miserable sane person. the insane is happy and while he may not know it, he's happy.
the sane person is of right mind and is miserable and knows he's miserable and knows the insane person is happy!

It's politic to be happy and far more expedient when exchanging insincere greetings such as "What's up?" or "How are you?" To actually be forced to take the time to consider a fellow competitor in the food chain simply takes up too much time. I think we too often confuse the terms "Happy" with "Successful". It's fairly common for people to associate someone who is beaming from ear to ear, vivacious and friendly because they secretly associate Happiness with Success. So in effect, we are not so obsessed with actual happiness, but how successful we are compared to one another. Unfortunately, that success is normally measured in Dollars rather than sense, but.... The real focus of success should be - Did I overcome my previous limitations when I did this? Did I exceed my expectations? Did I go higher, faster? Was I stronger? If you can focus on those elements, it won't matter what society thinks. Best yourself and you will remain happy and ALIVE.
Good journey.

Both are in the same boat but at extreme ends and lonely. One does has any oar and the any bucket for the water leaking in it.SOCIETY has nothing much to do about our happiness in as much as the same way that it may be sole cause of our misery.Once we decide to be Happy or Miserable,Society pitches in to contribute. in it's own lousy way.

I would rather have the sting of truth. In that I can find a real happiness and not the dithering cell of insanity. Happiness and misery are temporary conditions.

First you have to tell me what an insane person is and then you have to tell me what a sane person is and then you can tell me why we can't have people just be people and all of us be happy the greatest part of the time and when we are sad and needing comfort not have to play stupid games to get it.

A happy insane person is a sick, just aparently happy person. Being miserable without even knowing it is one of the worst things in life, because you are not yourself.
Being happy doesn't meen so much to me. Being healthy, loved or appreciated is what I would preffer.

What is happy, or miserable? It is a very subjective judgment and you would have to qualify and specify a lot for me to be able to answer.
