How Could you use trig in a 3D object

Same as you'd use it on a 2-D object. It's usually easier if you do things in (r, Φ, Θ) instead of (x, y, z) coordinates, but it's very straightforward. You'll see it around the end of your 2'nd year of Calculost when you start doing integrals to calculate the lengths of curves in 3-space. (And yes, it can be extended in the obvious and natural way into higher dimensions as well, which gives you a very good way to work with time-varying 'things' in 3-space)
