This question pertains to me! Socks have been "sole-mates" ever since that sweatshop employee stuffed them into the plastic bag together. When I wash my socks, I spend the time to make sure each sock returns to its significant other. Some of you doubt that that's possible, but I assure you that it is. You see, every pair of socks share equal time in the shoes and, therefore, wear evenly. So, you just judge by the accumulation of pilling and/or darkening of the socks by dirt and you should be able to find each mate.
