Go to a local film festival or college and find a film student that wants a good idea to produce. You are not likely to receive any monetary gain, but if you have a good to great idea and the film maker turns it into a fantasic film and it wins awards at film festivals, you could be well on your way to a writing career.

A good example is the movie "Saw" and its trilogy; it started as an 8 minute short film by Leigh Whannell and was seen by a director at a film festival that wanted to expand on the idea.

Another example, although a little off the beaten track, is Vin Diesel produced a 20 min short film called "Multi-Facial" that was about his problems with getting an acting role because agents couldn't decide what his ethicity should be; Stephen Speilberg saw the short and decided Vin was perfect for the role of an Italian soldier in his movie "Saving Private Ryan". Vin's acting career took off expotentially from there.
