"Strewn" means having thrown things about. It could be crop seeds, it could be laundry, it could be pieces of paper, but it has definitely been thrown about. A past tense for sure, but I don't know if there is a present tense, to strew something--that sounds very weird somehow, doesn't it?

1. (4) strewn -- ((used with `with' or in combination) covered by or scattered over or on;

Eg: "The floor was Strewn with coconut shells.

The aisle was strewn with the petals of colorful flowers.


2. scattered, strewn -- (being distributed here and there

without order.

Eg. 1. The dry leaves were found strewn all over the sidewalk.

2. Williams. Can you pick up the clothes lying strewn all over the floor?

Strewn means to cast items about in an unorganized fashion. EG. The pencils were strewn around, not placed.

Scattered about. "Strewn about". Not necessarily a complete mess but rather left hapharzardly around an area. eg. Books, articles of clothing left lying around in the open.
