What is normal? I have been on medication off and on since I was 12. I was off most of my teenage years, but when I had my baby, I got the the baby blues. Three years later if I forget to take my pills I am a basket case. If you find a good doc and stay with your treatment you will be stable. Looking from the outside... I am happily married have a wonderful child and a great job. Just watch your medication not everything on the market is for everyone.

I've never been diagnosed, but strongly suspected I have been bipolar ever since 13. I had some rough years. I still have some rough days. I can only take it 1 day at a time, but I' still here, and that's good enough for me.

yes, Over 5 years "normal" I am using a 12 step program to learn how to live life on life's terms. I have been bipolar for over 20 years. was on Prozac, Paxil, Ridlen (forgot how to spell it) Valium. but just made me feel numb... feeling like crap is better than numb. 12 steps help me to live... I am not cured... but Highs are not so high... lows are not so low.
I became a drunk and drug addict for 21 years of my life. (15-36) now I am free of drugs and alcohol. Sobriety date.. 18 Feb 2002.
Good luck... you are not alone.

Sorry to say but I know a few bipolar people and they all have trouble at time. Some much worse that others, but all of them create too much drama.
Good luck all the same.
