I've just seen him on tv and dvd and he was good. But why does he get props for being great?

I saw Jimi when he was at the top of his game in 1967 in concert in Rochester,New York . He was the best. No one could play like him. He was a real show man and he cared how he sounded on stage unlike a lot of them to day.I saw him agin here in the San Francisco about four months before he died. He had changed his show and had dumped a lot of the songs from the 1967 era, people were telling him to play the "old"stuff and he just did as he wanted. He never played in SF after that night.

He gets the props coz he was a freak and proud of it. He was also the worlds first rock guitar god. His onstage persona was the opposite to how he really was, technically his playing was rough as guts, but he lived the guitar, so was able to play so much stuff that damned few players could even get near him. He went to the UK because around that time the white pop musos were playing the blues and they werent paying a lot of dues back to the black song writers and musos. Jimi went over there to show them what time it was.....he went there to show them how its really done, and ended up befriending a lot of guys (and girls) over there.
He was a gentle soul, with a spirit as free as an eagle.....drugs and drug dealers screwed him over right to the end.

I can confirm it without seeing him on TV. He was awesome, the only way he couldn't play guitar was left handed. He was even great when he used his feet to play.

Never seen him but he was awesome on a guitar. He played a right handed guitar with his left hand.

You know, sometime stars become even more popular when they die. But, I agree about that Hendrix...never could understand that nor that Joplin. Guess its just a matter of taste.
