It more annoys me that in a few years these kids will be my boss at work... because fakery and taking credit for others' work, cutting corners and sounding impressive while saying nothing are all important life skills in the modern corporate environment.
Actual knowledge, reflection, doubt, critical faculties developed by study... these are bad things to organisations.

I do, still, sometimes give answers, but I have started moving more toward explaining assignments and giving hints.
The thing that puzzles me is if they have enough skills to post the question here, why don't they have enough skills to enter their search terms and find the answer themselves?
My absolute favorite ones are these types: "Write me an essay two pages long about how the Treaty of Versailles impacted Germany. The essay should include discussion of war reparations, disarmament, and how those later helped Hitler achieve his goals." I mean really, that stuff is sooo easy to research on the internet, even if you haven't bothered to read your textbook.
When I was growing up, my parents had a hard and fast rule. They kept a good selection of reference books in our home, and if I ever came up against something to which I did not know the answer, I was to look it up and educate myself about it. It is a habit I have carried with me into adulthood. I actually get scared when I think there's a whole generation of kids out there who don't even care to know the answers to stuff, and just want someone to do them a favor. It doesn't bode well for the day when their generation steps up and runs the world...

I emphatically agree. The whole of the earth is doomed at this rate with so many people not wanting to take the time to do simple tasks like homework. How do they expect to learn anything? Sit down, turn off the TV, shut off the computer, and read a book. Yeesh.

What makes me laugh is how obvious it is that most of these questions are right out of text books which means the answers are probably written word for word in said book. There is no funding for typing classes anymore so these kids probably spent more time typing the questions here than it would have taken to find the answers.

lol funny sometimes yes .. most questions are so easy to answer
i wonder if the people did try to find the answer ie google , wikipedia etc before they post a question here.
on the other hand some questions are rather easy to answer and one does not even look up something .
but well despite feeling sometimes as a lil homework helper, why not share the knowledge ?

I disagree. This is how it is done now. We did not have computers and we went to the library. Different times, different methods. They are smart. They know that there are enough egoists on here that it can be easy to get the info. I really have no problem with it. I see it as no diffferent then what we did with encyclopedias.

Seriouslyy guys by cheating you are only hurting yourself. Yeah, yeah, yeah I know you've heard it about a million times b4 but you need to consider it.
Do you think Yahoo Answers is going to get you anywhere in life?? Nope probably not very far, but studying will.
Good luck in life!
And remember hard work pays off!!!!!

I DO! I don't mind guiding or directing, but I am disgusted when students post their entire homework assignment on here (misspelled, of course) and give no indication they have even gotten started.
I am even more disgusted by seeming grown-ups who further enable the asker by answering! Is it ego and arrogance that drives them?

I agree if they are only using this as a means for answers with out trying or reading it themself. But if they do not have any one they can ask like a parent then I have no problem helping because if they have good intentions why not help to thier education.

I agree. especially since they ask a question that is so general, it would take volumes of information to answer. Kinda like asking "History of the world from beginning to now and give the highlights."
