1. Be lenient with your roommate; they'll never be perfect so try and let the little things go (if they insist the temp. be at a 2-3 degree range higher than you can tolerate, take off your sweater and don't sweat it).
2. Get to know your prof.'s and go to office hours. They explain amazingly one-on-one and can you say "Letters of Recommendation"?
3. Stay away from fake people who will try to bring you down. They're present at every stage in life, but are harder to pick out in the first few weeks of college when everyone is just being so nice to everyone else and putting up a front. Be careful who you open up to, but always be friendly and SMILE.

Good luck!! You're gonna love it!! :)

1. don't be afraid. On TV, they show that all the seniors pick on the freshman, but it's simply not true. Most seniors could really care less about freshman, and just want to get the hell out of school. Just don't try too hard to get the attention of the older kids, it always backfires.

2. I'm assuming you are going to HS, so whatever your middle school teachers told you about how hard the classes are, is a complete lie....I went to an average public school, if it makes any difference. The classes there challenge you a little more than middle school, but not anything like college. Just have fun!

3. Be careful who you make fun of or stare at, etc. This is how Columbine occurred. yes, that person is different from you, but so what. Don't drive someone to unthinkable terms. They say that sticks and stones can break your bones but words will never hurt you, but when it comes to your words hurting someone else?...completely a different story.

Good luck! High School is a blast! I wish I could go back!

Teach Freshman at my school. Here is what I tell them.

1. If you have been socially promoted the chances of you
failing is 95%. Sounds mean, but it is true.

I inform them the reasoning and that is they have not acquired thes proper skills to do high school work.

2. If you do not like to read, write, take notes, or study, you will
fail.

3. Do not plan on extra credit. It is given when I want to give it
not when you want it.

4. Keep an updated Point Log Sheet. I do not want them to
approach me 1-2 weeks near the end of the quarter or
semester what their grades are.

And to end this, even though there is more...

5. When that bell rings it is my time, not yours, so lets
get movin'!

1) Learn to use the syllabus, it is your friend.
2) When facing a choice between studying and going somewhere, ask yourself "In 5 years, what will I wish I had done?" If you are facing an all important test, stay home and study. If you perhaps have the chance to go see someone speak -- such as Carl Sagan (I know he's dead, it's just an example), then go see him.
3) DON'T feel as if you have to drink in order to have a good time or to fit in. Partying hard is very, very lame and won't get you ANYWHERE in life.
