I've lived in Texas for 47 years. There's always been a diverse population here as long as I can remember. We all live together as neighbors, all part of the community, all socioeconomic levels. They have had bilingual education in schools for years. We've got the best Mexican food restaurants in the world. We have the friendliest people on earth.

Potential economic problems?
Right now I'm freaking out about the toll roads and the awful traffic. And the influx of affluent folks, and the rapid increase in property values and development. It's going to be a big parking lot before too long if we don't put some limits on growth.

One really good thing happening in Texas is that they are pumping water out of the aquifer faster than it is being replaced and they are pumping poisons into the groundwater so it will be uninhabitable desert soon. Combined with global warming, it will look like the Sahara soon.
