I have an eMachines T5226 and will this card work fine in my PC without requiring me to get a better PSU?

You've got a x16 PCIe slot that is right for that card. The GTS is a 47 watter, the GT could be a 40 watter. Most PC builders cut on costs and just put in the exact PSU rating with little regard for expansion/upgrades. If your PC could run the 8600GT, the power supply could run HOT at FULL LOAD.

If your current power supply is 300W or less, better upgrade to a 380-400W. Higher rated PSUs run cooler and would last longer.

Hold a minute there! Judging by the specs on eMachines' website (http://www.emachines.com/products/products.html?prod=T5226 ) for your product, I would think the video card would work. However, since your machine is running Vista, I would check to see if the video card you want to use will not have any driver issues. You did not tell how many watts you've got on your current PSU, so I do not know what the current power your PSU can deliver and whether that would be enough for this video card. I would check that too. Looking at the specs, something around 500W or more should do. I recommend an Antec, Corsair, or some other reputable brand.

Don't forget to disable the onboard video card that came with your system! Please note that by changing around parts, you might void any warranties that your system has. Most people forget this...!

Good luck.
